ANNOUNCING THE METRO POETRY WINNER

We’re delighted to announce the winners of our third annual Metro Poetry Prize in partnership with Nexus on the theme of ‘Journey’. One winning poem and three runners up were selected from over 300 entries and are now on display on large posters at Longbenton Metro Station which has over a million customers every year. The poems were judged by representatives from Nexus, plus poet Kris Johnson and PBS Manager Alice Mullen.

We're delighted to announce the 1st prize winner is Claire Lynn from Hexham with a poem titled ‘Crossing to Lindisfarne’. The runners up include Davina Prince, from Leicestershire, Phil Barratt from Norfolk and Pat Winslow from Oxfordshire.

Claire's winning poem is beautifully crafted and a real celebration of journeying into our local landscape. We hope it inspires you to start your own journey - reading and writing more poetry - or take the Metro a few stops further to our “pebbled shores”, as Claire so beautifully puts it. We can’t wait for our local community to read and enjoy these poems.
